Say hello where you already are
Connect messaging channels with clear boundaries for replies and outgoing messages.
Your space → Connections → Channels
Before you begin
A supported channel, its credentials or pairing flow, and a custom agent.
Connect a channel
Open Channels and choose the integration. Follow its credential or pairing flow; setup differs between WhatsApp, Slack, Discord, Telegram and iMessage.
Choose who may talk
Configure the allowed conversations and senders. Select the agent that should reply and review the permission settings.
Review outgoing behavior
Use draft or approval-based behavior when you want to review messages. Inspect the Outbox and activity before enabling more automatic posting.
Controls & reference
| Control or concept | How to use it |
|---|---|
| Connection | The messaging account or bot used by the channel. |
| Allowed conversations | Which rooms and senders can reach the agent. |
| Replying agent | The custom agent responsible for that channel. |
| Outbox | Review drafts and delivery attempts. |
| Agent posting | Controls messages the agent initiates, separately from incoming replies. |
Try it with a small task
Use a dedicated test conversation. Send a short question and check both the app activity and the destination for the actual delivered reply.
If it does not work
- Suggested reply only: inspect draft/approval mode and Outbox.
- No incoming task: check allowlists and connection health.
- Permission denied: verify the channel’s platform permissions and Mellow’s sending policy.
Good to know
- A draft or suggested reply is not evidence that a message was sent.
- iMessage requires native permissions; other channels may need their own bot or linked-device setup.
- n8n and custom HTTP channels require their own pairing and sender rules.
